WIPO regional forum for IP coordinators in universities and research institutes

Being licensed by Minister of Science and Technology, the NOIP, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ninh province jointly organized “WIPO regional forum for IP coordinators in universities and research institutes” in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province from 29 to 31 October 2008.

Being licensed by Minister of Science and Technology, the NOIP, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ninh province jointly organized “WIPO regional forum for IP coordinators in universities and research institutes” in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province from 29 to 31 October 2008.
Nearly 70 delegates who were IP coordinators and IP administration officers from universities/research institutes from Viet Nam (20 delegates) and Asia, African and Latin America attended the forum.
Main contents of the forum:
  • Roles of the management of IP and science and technology in universities/research institutes;
  • National strategy on IP and R&D;
  •  Roles and functions of Technology Transfer Office in universities/research institutes;
  • Issues relating to research and commercialization of research results, technology transfer between universities and industries;
  • Technical assistance and capacity building programmes by WIPO to assist Member States in resolving the above problems.
Mr. Pham Phi Anh, Deputy Director General of the NOIP and Mr. Pham Xuan Long, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ninh province and representatives of WIPO, JPO attended the opening ceremony and directly chaired the forum. Representatives of the Organizing Board, foreign and Vietnamese delegates and speakers agreed that the forum had been organized successfully and achieved its targets.
