Being allowed by Minister of Science and Technology and People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, the National Conference on Management of IP in 2008 was organized from 24 to 26 November 2009 in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong province.

H.E.Mr. Nguyen Quan, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep, Vice President of People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, Mr. Tran Viet Hung, Director General of the National Office of Intellectual Property; Mr. Daniel Keller, Swiss Local Partner, Swiss Vietnamese Intellectual Property Project; Mr. Nguyen Van Rua, Director of Department of Science and Technology of Binh Duong province and 163 delegates from 50 Departments of Science and Technology of provinces and cities all over the country, including 45 directors and deputy directors of DOSTs, attended the conference. Speaking at the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Quan emphasized that IP activities had been achieved some successes since the promulgation of the IP law, measures for the promotion of the implementation and enforcement of the IP law had been implemented comprehensively to strengthen the protection of IPRs in the coming time. S&T activities are asserting their role in socio-economic life of the country. Mr. Nguyen Quan suggested the step by step effective exploitation of IP assets of Viet Nam and the world, especially patent information for the socio-economic development, making practical contribution to the economic growth of Viet Nam, in addition to the registration of IPRs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep, Vice President of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests to the conference. Over the past years, Binh Duong province has gained consecutive and important achievements. The GDP of the province in 2008 raised by 14.9% compared with that in 2007. With the development of the economy, culture and society, IP activities have been more and more paid attention to by industries and authorities. IP asset is one of important factors to create a fair competitive environment for the co-development of enterprises, organizations and individuals.

On this occasion, Minister of Science and Technology presented Award Certificates to 10 leaders of Departments of Science and Technology for their brilliant achievements in IP activities in 2008 and the Director General of the NOIP presented Award Certificates to 25 organizations and 50 individuals for their good contribution to IP activities in 2007-2008.
